Installation of three floating wind turbines

If you’ve been following French offshore wind energy news, you won’t have missed this: the three floating wind turbines have been installed in the Mediterranean! A world first, since the Provence Grand Large pilot farm, developed by EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge and CPP Investments, uses SBM Offshore’s floating foundation, an innovative Tension Leg Platform (TLP) solution. The three Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with an output of 8.4 MW, are installed 17 km off the coast of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, in the Gulf of Fos (Bouches-du-Rhône), equivalent to the electricity consumption of 45,000 people.

VALEMO is proud to be working alongside SBM Offshore on annual float maintenance. VALEMO has developed float maintenance engineering, to optimize float operation and inspection, and the costs and planning associated with offshore operations. As we approach the operational phase, VALEMO is awaiting the contract award decision, and is ready to work alongside the project’s stakeholders from Port-de-Bouc, where the project’s maintenance base is located.
