VALEMO confirms its involvement alongside GE Renewable Energy in the development of Haliade 150

VALEMO, in partnership with UL, is contributing its expertise to GE Renewable Energy to support the construction of the wind turbines for the Saint-Nazaire wind farm, which will be the first offshore wind farm in France.

GE Renewable Energy has entrusted our teams with carrying out quality inspections on the 80 Haliade 150 6MW wind turbines currently being manufactured, to ensure proper execution of the project. We are auditing the nacelles manufactured locally in Montoir-de-Bretagne in Loire-Atlantique, the power conversion modules assembled in Saint Nazaire, as well as the towers and blades of the wind turbines.

Since September, a VALEMO maintenance technician has been mobilised at the Montoir-de-Bretagne plant and is involved in the quality control of all the sub-systems of the nacelles leaving the plant’s assembly lines. From the beginning of 2021, we will strengthen our team and we will also be working on the new logistics hub in the port of Saint-Nazaire, where the 80 wind turbines for the project will be assembled and pre-assembled before they are transported and installed at sea in 2022.

VALEMO thus confirms its long-term involvement alongside GE Renewable Energy in the development of the Haliade 150, after the Carnet prototype in 2015 and the German Merkur wind farm in 2018.
